New music video ‘Callin for the Kid’

My new music video ‘Callin for the Kid’ is here! The video features my recent single, ‘Callin for the Kid’, inspired by my late Grandfather and his adventures in music & life.  Featuring my parents Alan & Elizabeth Monahan on guitars, banjo, vocals and whistling and Cathy and Marion McEvoy on fiddle and mandolin, it is available for download from Bandcamp at Callin for the Kid | Clara Rose. The single received national airplay and was featured on ‘The Six Sessions’ on Virgin Media TV with a live studio performance.

Filmed on location in Boyles Pub (Slane, Co. Meath) and in a beautiful field in the Royal County of Meath, the music video tells a nostalgic tale of love, loss and the memories which connect our present with our past. ‘The Kid’ is played by actor Pat Deery and the host of wonderful children playing cowboys and Indians will melt your heart, all while ‘the band’ and the gamblin’ cowboys play on. Filmed and directed by Mark Watson of Not Just a Pawn Productions.

Clara Rose and a band of friends will launch her new single, ‘Callin for the Kid‘ over a run of 2 shows this July 2025. This song is different from previous releases and a special one for Clara as it was inspired by her late Grandfather Eamon who was a musician and loved Cowboy movies. It was recorded with Clara’s parents Alan and Liz Monahan with Cathy and Marion McEvoy in Marion’s studio, Panchord studios. Marion McEvoy engineered and mixed the track. What follows is a beautiful trip of nostalgia through voices, guitars, mandolin, fiddle and whistling! It will be available for Download from Bandcamp on Friday 12th July. Clara Rose releases her new E.P, Travelling Soul on Tuesday 14th April. For this collection of songs, Clara collaborated with vocalist, Elizabeth Monahan (pictured above beside Clara) who just happens to be her mother!

The new E.P from Clara Rose, Travelling Soul is a departure from her usual powerhouse vocal style to a more soulful, contemporary folk genre. The 4 original songs on the E.P were written and inspired by time Clara spent on the beautiful Achill Island, Co. Mayo. The 5th track features her mother, Elizabeth Monahan, on lead vocals and is a version of the traditional country classic, Red River Valley. The recording interestingly features both of Clara’s parents, her mother, Elizabeth on vocals and father, Alan on Banjo on title track, “Travelling Soul”. Recorded and mixed by Marion McEvoy (Panchord Studios) there is also fiddle by Cathy McEvoy and percussion by Shane Atlas. Resulting in a feast for the ears of stories, song and soulful music.

Ladies in the Blues tour is a wrap

    THATS A WRAP!

If you’re wondering why things have been a little quiet on the Clara Rose front these days it’s because I’ve been on a nationwide tour with these gifted women: Grainne Hunt, Jhil Quinn and Emma Nicolai. AKA: “Ladies in the Blues”

We had a successful run of shows in some of Ireland’s beautiful theatre spaces including, ‘Theatre Royal’ (Waterford), ‘Firkin Crane’ (Cork Jazz Festival), Watergate (Kilkenny) and Glor (Ennis). It was so much fun singing with my sistas of blues! Between an appearance on RTE news.. a few ladders in a few tights… James Delaney on a grand piano (in Glor) and singing our heart out at a late night trad session in Ennis.

It was not without it’s dramas and tales but the highlight is always being on stage with these fine musicians, paying tribute to the ladies of the blues in the best way we know how. X
